This Vintage Bulova Royal Oak Automatic Ref. 4420101 from the 1970s is arguably one of the cleanest examples in Indonesia over the past few years. A bold homage to the luxury sports watch wave sparked by Audemars Piguet, this piece mirrors the proportions of the AP Royal Oak Ref. 14790 with a 36mm case and integrated bracelet.
An interesting watch because during the 70s “everyone (maybe) was keen to get in on the new Luxury Sports Watch category that AP had created”. With a diameter of 35-36mm (approx) it is identical to the AP ref 14790. This is probably the ultimate Royal Oak “ripoff” watch in terms of build quality and case construction details. Another interesting thing about the iconic case construction is that the octagonal bezel is “brushed” on the top and “polished” on the sides of the bezel, and then brushed on the case, creating a more dynamic look. And most importantly, the integrated bracelet that characterizes this RO model is difficult to create by other brands.
