The 1970s was one of the most important periods for King Seiko, when the brand was pushing Japanese mechanical watchmaking toward increasingly higher standards of accuracy, finishing, and design. Ref. 5626-7040 belongs to the celebrated 56KS generation, an unusual chapter in King Seiko history because it was produced by Suwa Seikosha rather than Daini, and this Chronometer execution adds another layer of collector interest. The dark blue dial is especially attractive, giving the watch a much stronger personality than the more commonly encountered silver configurations, while the Hi-Beat architecture, bilingual day-date display, and chronometer designation make it a technically serious piece from the final golden years of mechanical King Seiko.
