The early 1970s represented one of the most ambitious periods in Japanese mechanical watchmaking, and the Ref. 5246-6000 sits near the top of that story as part of King Seiko’s short lived 52KS “Special Chronometer” generation. Produced by Daini Seikosha, this reference combined chronometer-level ambitions with the automatic Calibre 5246A, running at 28,800 vibrations per hour and equipped with features such as hacking, quickset day date, instant calendar change, and external fine regulation. Its collector appeal comes not from numbered production, but from belonging to a relatively uncommon and technically sophisticated chapter of King Seiko history that existed only briefly before the quartz era reshaped the brand.
